The iconic Huntley Hotel is a beach-side gem for any travelers seeking a luxurious, contemporary retreat in Southern California. Its prime location within a tree-lined residential neighborhood is just minutes away from the world famous Santa Monica pier. It’s also walking distance to the Ocean, and to one of the most popular and trendy shopping places at the 3rd Street Promenade. Guests are always promptly greeted when arriving by world class and courteous Hotel staff. Upon entering The Huntley, a sensual yet inviting fragrance surrounds you, which is just another unique way they welcome guests. One step into the lobby immediately reveals an ultra-chic setting filled with postmodern furniture, handpicked by renowned designer Thomas Schoos. It is complete with- a uniquely urban vibe with shag rugs, custom wood carved seats and all white accent covered piranha walls.
A ride in The Huntley’s glass elevator provides breathtakingly expansive views of the Pacific Ocean, from Venice all the way up the Malibu coastline. The destination is the 18th floor posh Penthouse restaurant; the crown jewel of the property. As the doors open, the contemporary elegance of the restaurant begins to reveal itself. It becomes quite apparent why Vanity Fair Magazine has recently named the Penthouse the best place to enjoy cocktails in West L.A. The layout is complete with draped beach cabanas, breathtaking 360 degree views of the south land and a chrome candlelight bar. The impressive dinner menu is comprised of contemporary American cuisine with audacious global influences. Chef Greenburg does an exceptional job creating innovative and original menu items using a plethora of ingredients from around the world. The cocktail menu is equally impressive, and the signature cocktail list is extremely popular with locals and guests alike.
The ultramodern suites in the hotel are filled with an array of amenities that are sure to please the most seasoned traveler. Oversized windows line the entire side of the suite and provide the ultimate viewing landscape. From the foot of the bed appears a flat screen television connected to a swivel which makes viewing television possible from the couches, as well as the bed. The bed itself is arguably the most comfortable in the world, complete with 100% Egyptian cotton linens. The attention to detail can be found just about everywhere you look at the Huntley Hotel, which makes this my favorite Southern California Beach side getaway.
